Oakcrest
High School’s Betty Howell recently organized a drive
to help the community by encouraging students and staff at Oakcrest
to donate items to a local animal shelter. Howell brought the idea
to the attention of her Adaptive Physical Education class, and from
there, the project began. All collected items were donated to the
Atlantic County Animal Shelter.
Why help the
animal shelter? "I'm an animal lover!" said
Howell.
A wide range
of items were collected, including blankets, towels, toys and money.
Students enjoyed helping out for a good cause like
this one “It's nice to see that many are helping out with this
cause in our community and in school instead of just watching the
upsetting commercials on the TV about animals and animal shelters
and how you could help them,” said Sophomore, Samantha Disano.
This is not the only time you can help the shelters, though. You
can also volunteer and adopt pets to help.
