OHS STUDENTS ENJOY BALLET VIDEOCONFERENCE

Oakcrest High School Dance Teacher Rachel Gaskill recently arranged for her dance classes to participate in a distance learning videoconference with the Clowes University Butler Ballet.

The purpose of this conference was to discuss a career as a professional dancer. “The video conference with the Butler Ballet provided a wonderful opportunity for those dance students who are considering continuing their dance training beyond high school,” explained Gaskill. “The conference couldn’t have been timed better. It occurred the week before the Advanced Dance Concert. Those students who choreographed dances for the concert were able to discuss their dances with these professionals and receive helpful feedback on how to make the most out of their upcoming performance.”

Many of the students who attended the conference found the information useful. “The experience was great, and it gave me insight about what to expect if I want to pursue dance after high school because that is something I am looking into,” said Senior Vannie Respes. “I am one of the students who choreographed for our Advanced Dance Concert and the feedback was very helpful.”
