Eleven
Oakcrest High School seniors were recently notified that they
qualify for the Edward J. Bloustein Scholarship.
Allyson
Brower, John Commander, Kari Connolly, Dorothy Doughty, Danielle
Hagel, Howe Lin, Safiya Mahmud, Jessica Monteith, Madeline
Olsen, Erin Palermo, and Christine Cheatham are this year’s
recipients. This scholarship provides almost $4,000 in scholarships,
according to John Cocuzza, OHS guidance director.
The
Higher Education Student Assistance Authority (HESAA), an independent
agency of the State of New Jersey, administers the Garden State
Scholarship Program, which includes the Edward J. Bloustein
Distinguised Scholar and Urban Scholar awards. Each year, more
than 7,000 students statewide receive scholarships in recognition
of their high level of academic achievement. Students may use
these awards to continue their education at New Jersey institutions
