OHS STUDENTS RECEIVE SCHOLAR AWARDS

Eleven Oakcrest High School seniors were recently notified that they qualify for the Edward J. Bloustein Scholarship.

Allyson Brower, John Commander, Kari Connolly, Dorothy Doughty, Danielle Hagel, Howe Lin, Safiya Mahmud, Jessica Monteith, Madeline Olsen, Erin Palermo, and Christine Cheatham are this year’s recipients. This scholarship provides almost $4,000 in scholarships, according to John Cocuzza, OHS guidance director.

The Higher Education Student Assistance Authority (HESAA), an independent agency of the State of New Jersey, administers the Garden State Scholarship Program, which includes the Edward J. Bloustein Distinguised Scholar and Urban Scholar awards. Each year, more than 7,000 students statewide receive scholarships in recognition of their high level of academic achievement. Students may use these awards to continue their education at New Jersey institutions of higher education. For more information about HESAA’s programs, call 1-800-792-8670 or visit online at www.hesaa.org.
