Oakcrest Teachers Dianne Robbins and Pam Burnell began planning the symposium by creating a data base which would enable them to contact former Oakcrest students and invite them to return to the school to share their personal college experiences.

The event came about because both teachers keep in touch with many students and frequently invite them to speak to their students. Organizing the symposium allows more teachers and students to take advantage of this learning opportunity.

“The event gave current graduating seniors at Oakcrest a chance to meet Oakcrest graduates and ask them questions about their college experience,” commented Robbins. “This opportunity enabled our students to learn what to expect when they enter college next fall. We were excited about seeing our former students and hearing of their successes.”
