Recently,
all four of Oakcrest High School’s dance classes hosted the
Annual Dance Concert in which the students performed dances that
were choreographed by Rachel Gaskill and Elaine Chaffin, dance
teachers at Oakcrest.
The dances were performed to demonstrate
the skills the students have learned in ballet, jazz, modern, tap,
hip-hop, and social dance. Performers who participated in the show
were positive about the experience. “I enjoyed dancing in
the concert,”Rebecca Lanham said. “It was an amazing
experience that I can’t wait to do again.”
“It was a very good and
fun experience, especially because it was my first show,”said
John Taylor.
Approximately 93 students performed
the difficult pieces. Some of the costumes were made by the Ralph
Lauren Foundation specifically for the event. “We had a tremendous
turn-out. What a great opportunity for our dance students to share
their love of dance with the community,”Gaskill commented
after the event.
The concert was a great success
and the dance team is hoping to host another dance concert in May.
