High School’s Dance Team recently performed in the group’s
annual Advanced Dance Concert to showcase their original choreography.
The event was held at Davies Middle School.
Students involved in
the program enjoyed the production process. “Choreographing
a piece for the Advanced Dance Concert was a blessing in itself,
but it took a lot of determination and hard work in order to get
everything perfect. It was sometimes stressful, but the stress
created a beautiful masterpiece,” said Senior Ashley Beals.
Forty students from
the Advanced Dance Class performed original choreography that they
created during class. The students created dances demonstrating
all different styles of dance including Jazz, Hip-Hop, Contemporary,
Ballet, Lyrical, and Tap. The team was encouraged to create a dance
set to the music of their choice. Once it was created they chose
their dancers, led rehearsals, and set costumes and lights. “It
was a fantastic time filled with thrills and excitement,” said
Senior Devin Lewis.
The dance concert had
a great turn out, and the dances were well received by the audience. “The
leadership they demonstrated throughout this process was truly
incredible. The Dance Concert was a huge success and they should
be very proud of their hard work,” said Rachel Gaskill OHS
Dance Performing Arts Teacher.
The team danced to
music by Chris Brown, Jack Johnson, Sean Paul, and featured music
from different musicals such as, High School Musical and Hairspray.
