Oakcrest
High School juniors recently participated in an assembly program
designed to help them prepare for the upcoming High School Proficiency
Assessment (HSPA) scheduled to take place in early March.
Bruce
Boguski, author of The Testing Zone, spoke to students in the
school’s auditorium. During the presentation, Boguski addressed
students about the importance of preparing for tests by getting
a good night’s sleep and eating a healthy breakfast in
addition to a host of other practical suggestions for increasing
performance. Boguski also spoke with staff earlier in the year
during a professional development workshop.
The
staff at OHS is committed to preparing students for this important
test. “The program was directed at helping our students
understand how to prepare mentally and physically for the HSPAs,” explained
Maria Caiafa, OHS vice principal who coordinated the event.
Two
presentations were held to accommodate the junior class.
