Students
at Oakcrest High School have been sponsoring a Pay It To Say
It writing project. Interested students can purchase 3 different
size cards (quote space) in order to display their famous or
inspirational quotes. The quotes are then featured in a display
case in the 100 wing of the building for all to enjoy.
The
project was started in order to “instill in those who
participate a chance to write or read inspirationally,” explained
Richard Howey, special education teacher who coordinated the
project. “Proceeds from the project go toward the Corey
Brooks Scholarship Fund.”
Howey
believes the quotes can guide students’ lives. “I
want to provide our motto for the project,” said Howey. “If
you give it, then live it. If you give us a saying, then you
must believe in its meaning.”
Students
involved in the ongoing project are excited about the project’s
success. “Pay It To Say It is an excellent opportunity
for us to be recognized for doing something positive for our
school,” said Mariah Anderson. Other students involved
are William Howard, Philip Anderson, and Chris Ramos.
