OHS
BEGINS RECYCLING CAMPAIGN
Students and staff at Oakcrest
High School recently began a school-wide recycling program. The
school’s Science Club is spearheading the program. The members
of the group recently posted signs in all classrooms and areas
directing individuals to dispose of trash in the appropriate bin.
New paper recycling receptacles were also placed in all classrooms
and other areas of the building.
The school is doing its best
to recycle all newspapers, white and color paper, magazines, bags,
and cardboard in addition to glass and plastic bottles and jars
among, others.
All staff is helping in this
endeavor by monitoring students and their own commitment to the
program. Falcon TV, the school’s morning television show,
has also been airing videos reminding the school community to do
their part in the recycling program.
So far, the response has been
favorable by everyone involved. “Many of us assume that others
are responsible for something as simple as recycling,”commented
one staff member. “It’s great that we are setting an
example by getting involved directly with environmental issues.
It’s the least we can do!”
