Approve New High School for Egg Harbor City
The
planning for a new high school has been a long and deliberate
process for the Greater Egg Harbor Regional Board of Education
and administration. We, of course, are thrilled about the outcome
of the vote today and the confidence you have placed in our school
system. Our message did not waver and we are glad that the voters
took the time to learn about our needs and were willing to step
up and vote to support the proposed project.
We
are especially excited that the taxpayer burden will be significantly
reduced because of the state’s offer to fund more than 66
percent of the costs. This new high school will serve the students
in our community for years to come.
We
are grateful for the Teachers’ Association, the Trade Unions
and the parental committees that worked tirelessly in securing
a positive vote for the referendum.
We would also like to thank Retired Senator Gormley for his support and assistance
in securing state funding for the project, and Assemblymen Jim Whelan and
Frank Blee for their assistance with technical concerns in the later stages
of the project.
We
are proud to serve and eager to ‘get to work’ after
several years of planning with staff, administrators, architects,
engineers, construction managers and officials from the New Jersey
Schools Development Authority (formerly the Schools Construction
Corporation) to see the plans transformed to a new high school
for students in our regional district. We opened a new line of
communication with our community that we hope will continue as
we move forward. Thank you for your support.
