1824 Dr. Dennis Foreman Dr. Mays Landing, N.J. 08330 609-909-2600 Recently, Oakcrest High School Sea and Shore Ecology classes and some freshmen biology classes dissected a common squid during lab. Sea and Shore Ecology Teacher Drew Muzslay used this activity to familiarize students with the dissection process, as well as to students the anatomical differences and similarities between male and female squid. Students were excited about the opportunity. “Our students were more engrossed than grossed out,” explained Bryan Nedohon, teaching assistant. In fact, some students weren’t fazed at all. J.T. Tran, a junior, described how he used to cut up squid in an Italian restaurant kitchen, so, “It was no big deal. It was fun for me,” he said.
