Recently,
Oakcrest High School held its Fourth Annual College Symposium for
seniors in the OHS Library. Approximately 25 recent graduates returned
to discuss their college experience with current seniors. “The
graduates came back to visit and share their experiences with our
senior English classes,” remarked Pam Burnell, Business Teacher
at Oakcrest, who organized the event.
During
their English classes, seniors attended the Symposium, and had
a chance to ask any questions they had about college life, listening
to current college students’ perspectives. The event was
a success, according to seniors who participated. “The college
students were very helpful, and gave good tips to help us study
in the future,” commented senior, Becca Brown.
The
Symposium was a great opportunity for seniors to hear different
viewpoints, tips, and helpful habits from students at various schools
such as Princeton University, Seton Hall University, Georgetown
University, Northeastern University, Washington College, and American
University, along with many others.
