
Rules:
1. Man powered only. Oars can be made from cardboard
2. Only materials to be used: cardboard, duck tape (no limit), and Styrofoam
* The entire outside of boat must consist of cardboard.
3. One rider only. No other person can be associated with vessel once
placed in the water
4. The race will take place at Lake Lenape’s Swim Beach. Competitors
will leave shore, paddle their boats around a buoy and then return to
shore.
5. If no one makes it to the finish, the furthest person wins.
6. You must wear a lifejacket.
7. Rider cannot be enclosed nor strapped into the vessel.
8. No more than five total team members per boat. Each team member must
be eligible according to Oakcrest’s academic standards.
9. Size restriction: 4 feet in length, 4 feet in width
10. Entry forms and permission slips are due by 2/11/05.
11. Boat must arrive to school by Friday, 5/20/05.
Race Date 5/26/05
• The only boats that will have permission to race are those assigned an
entry number and approval sticker. A teacher committee will have the
authority to eliminate any entry that does not comply with the rules
and/or is unsafe to launch in the water.
• Participants will meet in the main lobby at 2:50 p.m. and ride a bus
to Lake Lenape. There will be no driving to school!
• Boats will be transported to Lake Lenape by a staff member.
• All team members must be present in school the day of the race.
• Students may leave Lake Lenape with parents only, upon leaving a signature
with an assigned teacher.
• Team is responsible for clean-up at Lake Lenape.
All boat remnants must return to school for disposal.
• All Oakcrest High School rules apply during this event; failure to comply
may result in disciplinary sanctions.
