EMERGENCY CLOSING OF SCHOOL DUE TO SNOW AND ICE

When closing school in case of inclement weather conditions, the major problem is one of communication and coordination between school and community:

Phase I-  The Closing of School Prior to School Opening

This decision to close school will be a function of the Superintendent. He will call the weather bureau and may consult the transportation coordinator. He also has a 7-way telephone hook-up with superintendents in our sending district. This is done in an effort to try to coordinate the action of all schools in the district.

A decision to close school because of inclement weather conditions will be announced on TV Channels 3, 6, 10, and 40 (Channel 2 in Galloway Township) and on Radio Stations KYW 1060 AM, WOND-1400 AM and WMGM 104 FM. This will hopefully make parents aware that their children will be home. The decision to close school is announced over the intercom to the students. They are instructed to report to their lockers and then directly to their busses.
