ENRICHMENT TRIPS

The Board of Education recognizes that enrichment trips can provide an enriching educational experience and encourages such trips as an important supplement to the school curriculum. However, since enrichment trips are not an integral part of the curriculum, the Board will provide for these trips only under conditions that they are taken at minimum or no cost to the Board.

The superintendent may recommend to the Board, approval for all enrichment trips. Enrichment trips shall not ordinarily be taken during the regular school day. Any such trip, however, shall be recorded as an excused absence for participating students.

From time to time, an organized group or student may participate in some prestigious competition or performance at some considerable distance from the district. In those unusual circumstances, the Board, upon the recommendation of the superintendent, reserves the right to approve or disapprove such trips and the Board further reserves the right to assume all, part, or none of the cost. All field trips and enrichment trips on school days will cease May 15 annually unless prior approval has been given.
