FIELD/ENRICHMENT
TRIP REGULATIONS
The
procedures listed below apply only to those trips that occur during
the course of the school day:
1. The requested trip must offer experience that students cannot obtain outside
the time limits of the school day.
2. The purpose of the trip must support the academic tone of the school and
fall within the stated purpose of the class or organization.
3. An organization that requests more than one trip per year must demonstrate
that the purpose of a subsequent trip(s) differs significantly from the trip
initially requested.
4. Activities that involve students in performance or competitions will be
given special consideration. The performance must be a "substantial" portion
of the activity.
5. Scheduling conflicts may result in the denial of a trip.
6. The liability of the District will be a factor when approval is considered.
CLASS
TRIP/OVERNIGHT TRIPS
Class
trips shall be approved by both the superintendent and the Board
of Education. All class trips shall be subject to the review and
approval of the individual building administrator and shall be
in accordance with all existing rules and regulation. Requests
for trips must be in accord with posted deadlines for Board meetings.
CLASS
TRIP/OVERNIGHT TRIPS PROCEDURE
The
procedure for requesting Board of Education approval for student
travel experience shall be as follows:
PROCEDURE
FOR REQUESTING TENTATIVE BOARD APPROVAL
Complete
application for preliminary approval of overnight trip. Obtain
approval from activity and department supervisor. Upon approval
by the supervisor, the proposal will then be forwarded to the Supervisor
of Athletics or Vice-Principal who will place it on the school
calendar after she/he has ascertained that it will not cause conflicts
with the school program. The Supervisor of Athletics or the Vice-Principal
will then forward the request to the principal indicating the compatibility
of the request in light of the school calendar and program.
Any
staff member who will use their own vehicle for transporting students
must submit a current photo copy of your driver's license, registration,
and insurance card along with each Field Trip form that is submitted.
Adequate
chaperons shall be obtained and the Board, upon the recommendation
of the superintendent, will approve or disapprove the chaperons
for the trip.
Upon
securing tentative approval by the Board, the teacher-sponsor,
students and parents may begin an in-depth exploration of the student
travel experience proposed.
PROCEDURE
FOR REQUESTING FINAL APPROVAL FROM THE BOARD OF EDUCATION
To
secure final approval from the Board of Education, the teacher-sponsor
will complete the application for final approval of overnight trips.
TIME
SCHEDULE FOR SECURING APPROVALS
Tentative
Board approval shall be secured at least four (4) months prior
to the departure date. Final Board approval shall be secured at
least three (3) months prior to the departure date.
