FIELD TRIPSThe Board of Education recognizes that field trips, used as a device for teaching and learning are integral to the curriculum and are an educationally sound and important ingredient in the instructional program of the school.For purposes of this policy, a field trip shall be defined as a journey by a group of pupils away from the school premises under the supervision of a teacher which is an integral part of an approved course of study and conducted for the purpose of affording a first-hand educational experience not available in the classroom. All field trips for the year should be submitted at the end of the preceding school year at a date to be set by the superintendent. Each school will be allotted proportionate sums to be determined by the superintendent. This is not intended to preclude additional trips or cancellations upon Board approval. A FIELD TRIP REQUEST FORM MUST BE COMPLETED PROCEDURE FOR COMPLETING FIELD TRIP REQUEST FORM Any staff member who will use their own vehicle for transporting students must submit a current photo copy of your driver's license, registration, and insurance card along with each Field Trip form that is submitted. All parent permission forms (Field Trip Permission Form) must be filed with the department supervisor. Requests must be filed in the high school office no later than ten (10) school days prior to the next Board work meeting. Students may not drive cars on a school trip. A fundraising approval for the field trip must be obtained if any money is to be collected from students. Money collected must be deposited in the student activity account and withdrawals made by voucher (duplicate).
