PROPOSALS FOR NEW OR CHANGED PROGRAM,
POLICY, OR PROCEDURE

The format for proposals for new or changed programs, policies, or procedures is outlined below. All faculty members should become knowledgeable of this procedure.


1. State the problem. What evidence suggests there is a problem?

2. What is the desired result or objective?

3. Who will be affected by the solution - student, staff, community, other?

4. What laws, policies, contracts, agreements, procedures, past practice, etc., are in affect which relate to this matter?

5. What does research or literature say about this matter? How do other schools live with this?

6. What alternative solutions are available? Explain.

7. Which solution is preferred?

8. Explain why this is preferred over the alternatives.

9. What results, consequences, side effects, may be anticipated? Look for the unanticipated consequences.

10. What resources are needed?

11. Who will be responsible to do this?

12. Time line for implementation.

13. Which District Outcome and Process Goals (Policy 134) relate to this proposal?

14. Evaluation - How and When will we know the result or objective (#2 above) has been attained?
