Welcome to the 2024-2025 school year! My name is John Commander and I teach math and computer science here at Oakcrest. I have been teaching at Oakcrest since 2010 and am very excited to start my fifteenth year. This year I will be teaching three courses: Algebra 1, Geometry, and AP Computer Science Principles. Use this website as well as Google Classroom to keep track of due dates for upcoming assignments, projects, and tests/quizzes. I look forward to keeping in touch with students and parents and making this a successful school year.

Academic Integrity Information
The above link is a mathematics academic integrity policy complete with examples of academic dishonesty and potential consequences.
The district’s policy regarding academic integrity is designed to prevent students from gaining an academic advantage through dishonest means, or to assist another student with gaining an unfair advantage. Violations of this policy include plagiarism, cheating, fabrication, and deception. Most work in our class will be collaborative, however when instructed to work independently, such as on an assessment, students should adhere to the academic integrity policy. Throughout the year, students will receive instruction on appropriate use of AI in the computer science classroom so as to ensure they are adhering to the policy.
