This year, I am teaching three very different courses.
English I is a college preparatory academic course designed for students performing at or above grade level. It is required of all freshmen. Based on the NJ Student Learning Standards, it encompasses the areas of reading, writing, speaking, listening, viewing, and technology. Topics and literature will come from around the world and span time. Students will read works from authors such as Homer, Mathabane, Confucius, Alvarez, Shakespeare, and Dickens. Students are introduced to the MLA format in this course.
American Literature with Ms. Campbell is the sophomore English course that everyone must take and pass to graduate high school. 10th grade is one of my favorite grade levels to teach! I specialize in helping students learn, practice, and use skills in reading, writing, vocabulary, grammar, and technology. I also include a focus on standardized testing preparation for the PSATs/SATs and NJGPA (tests required in sophomore and junior years for the purposes of receiving a high school diploma and/or admission to college.)
College and Career Readiness for 12th grade with math teacher Mr. Baldwin has the purpose of helping seniors to meet their New Jersey state graduation requirements so that they can receive their high school diploma at the end of the school year. We are very focused on reaching our goals in this class.
