Shout out to Oakcrest Class of 2019 alumna Le'Shelle Reed, who has returned to the Nest this school year to work as a counselor in AtlantiCare's on-campus Teen Center! Le'Shelle has organized a new weekly workshop series, which will be hosted in the building's "Zen Den." Each session is designed to help underclassmen find volunteer opportunities, build a resume, prep for employment interviews, and develop job searching skills. Great job to Le'Shelle, the Teen Center, and every ambitious Falcon in attendance looking to expand their future college and career opportunities! 🎓💙📚

The Greater Egg Harbor Regional High School District will be operating at regular schedule tomorrow, Wednesday January 28, 2026.
The Greater Egg Harbor Regional High School District will be closed on Tuesday, January 27. Throughout the day we made great efforts to get our buildings prepared, but in consultation with our constituent and sending districts and our local law-enforcement and our transportation providers, there are just too many safety concerns on back roads and in many of our neighborhoods. We recognize and understand that many of the main roads look and are in fact fine, but this district is so expansive and has so many students coming from remote and rural-like areas that we cannot in good conscience put those students and staff in dangerous situations. In addition, temperatures in the teens overnight and into tomorrow morning, give us great concern for the safety and well-being of students walking to and waiting at bus stops. We realize the temperatures will be cold for the week, but believe after talking to other local agencies that there will be continued efforts tomorrow to clean up intersections and some smaller side-street areas. The district fully intends to open Wednesday, January 28.

12th graders in Oakcrest's Biomedical Magnet were recently given the opportunity to visit Cooper University Hospital's Trauma Center, where they were shown how to assess and treat patients in an emergency room setting. A big thanks to all the OHS staff involved in planning this awesome experience! 🚑🩺🩻

Oakcrest's current Biomedical Seniors were recently treated to a visit by some of the program's alumni, who returned to share their experiences studying in college and working in the medical field. A big thanks to all the graduates for shedding some light on what life is like after leaving the Nest! 🩺🥼💙

Last Monday, current and prospective members of Oakcrest's chapter of the National Honor Society attended Stockton University's Annual MLK Day of Service. Participating Falcons had the opportunity to better their community by participating in a number of service projects, including writing greeting cards for first responders and senior citizens, making PB&J sandwiches for the homeless, and sorting, hanging, and folding clothing for local shelters. Shout out to all involved in this important yearly event! 💌🍞👖

Oakcrest students in AP Biology prepared for their recent assessment on cell cycles by updating and playing classic board games. It was a fun "twist" on reviewing! 🔵🔴🟡🟢

Lost today vs Cherokee, but great wins by Nikola Pepovski and Akeno Purugganan.

Individual Tournament at Audubon HS today! Great job Gabriel Gallegos who came in 12th out of 93 players.

In late December, Oakcrest's chapter of the National Honor Society hosted its semi-annual Red Cross Blood Drive, at which 120 lives were saved. Shout out to all the Falcons who donated blood and ran this very important event! Missed your chance to give? Another Drive will be held in the spring! 🩸💙💉

Shout out to the Oakcrest Dance program, who hosted a number of local vendors, artists, and business owners at their annual Christmas Craft Show in mid-December. The event was a bustling success, and the dancers in attendance even performed some holiday-themed numbers to entertain all who were selling and buying! 🎅👯♀️🎄

Oakcrest Wrestling is currently undefeated in their conference and has had some big successes thus far this season! At the recent Schalick classic, Sophomore Joseph Sanchez took 1st place in his weight class and Seniors Heriberto Curtidor and Erick Montas-Arias earned 2nd and 3rd place, respectively. The team will hit the road this afternoon for a tough match-up against Middle Township. Best of luck to every Falcon on the mat today! 🤼💪💙

Oakcrest's Dance Team and classes are already busy preparing for their spring performance, but they brought the house down in early December with their annual Winter Concert. Shout out to Dance teacher extraordinaire Rachel Gaskill for all her hard work organizing the show, and a big congrats to every performer for their dazzling performances! 💃🕺🩰

Oakcrest's Science Club can often be seen around Mays Landing caring for the community by picking up litter. In December, the group worked to beautify the Nest itself by picking up trash and recyclables around the football field. A big thanks to every student and staff member involved in this community service event! 🗑️🏈💙

Oakcrest's chapter of the National Honor Society continues to strengthen its ties to Hamilton Township schools and the community at large. In early December, OHS NHS members teamed up with WDMS's National Junior Honor Society to wrap gifts donated and collected by HTSD employees. A big thanks to every Falcon and Dragon who helped put a gift under the tree and a smile on the face of a child in need! 💙🎁❤️🎄

With the holiday season over, it's easy to get caught up in the mid-winter blues. But students in Oakcrest's Drama Club are likely to stay in a festive mood looking back on their mid-December trip to see Elf at the Surflight Theatre in Beach Haven. In addition to enjoying the musical, the group got to participate in a Q&A with the theatre's artistic director, Steve Steiner. A big shout out to teacher and drama director Brianna Langhurst for arranging this awesome opportunity! 🎅🎁🎭

In late November, students in teacher Jessica Megill's Adventures in Literature classes volunteered as tribute during the 2nd annual Hunger Games simulation. Participating Juniors and Seniors, who had just read Suzanne Collins's novel, took on various roles, including mentors, stylists, escorts, and game makers. The event had a charitable aspect, as well, as the teams were encouraged to collect canned goods, which were donated to a local food pantry. Props to Ms. Megill for all her hard work, and congrats to District 4 (Cash O'Brien and Joseph El) who won the day! 🕊️🏹🥫
