The AtlantiCare Teen Center recently hosted its annual "Messages of Hope" event, during which Oakcrest students decorated the Nest's sidewalks with inspirational words and images to promote social and emotional wellness. A big thanks to the Teen Center's staff for their constant focus on and support of teen mental health! 💙🫶🖍

In mid-May, Seniors in Oakcrest's Biomedical Magnet got some hands-on experience performing autopsies on pigs to determine cause of death. During the lesson, the group dissected porcine brains, which they were more than happy to later use for a photo op! 🐷🧠🔪

On May 21, Oakcrest Juniors and Seniors and their guests attended the Nest's Greek Isles-themed Prom at the Flanders Hotel in Ocean City. All present had a blast posing, dancing, and celebrating the end of the school year (and, for some, their high school career) in style!

Congrats to Prom Queen Neyla DeJean-Selphin and Prom King Jasper Chiaramonte, and a huge shout-out to Mishelle Perona, whose decorations captured the "Stars over Santorini" vibe perfectly! 💃🧿🕺👑

Today, while visiting the State House and District Court in Trenton, our Mock Trial and APUSH students were delighted to meet New Jersey Governor Mikie Sherrill. After this they ran into OHS alumni Anthony Angelozzi who is currently representing District 8 in the State Assembly.

In early May, Oak's REACH Program took a trip to Stockton University, where they enjoyed an educational concert performed by the Bay Atlantic Symphony at the college's Performing Arts Center. A big thanks to all the talented musicians for exposing this lucky group of Falcons to live classical music! 🎻👏🎶

Big congrats to all the Oakcrest Falcons who participated in the annual Atlantic County Teen Arts Fest, held recently in downtown Hammonton. Three of the visual artists whose work was presented at the county level were chosen to be featured at the NJ State Teen Arts Festival. They are as follows...

Oakcrest's Art and Culinary Clubs recently teamed up to visit Philadelphia's Magic Gardens. After admiring the space's amazing mosaics, they made a pit stop at Philly's famed Reading Terminal Market, where they sampled foods from all over the world. 😋🚌🎨

Shout out to Oakcrest Junior Zoe Corea Gonzalez, who in late April was one of four award winners of the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office's Law Day Art Contest. Zoe received a ribbon and cash prize for her work, which is attached here! 🎨🏅💙

Lots of nominations for all 3 GEH schools today at the SNJ Cappies Awards Gala!

In late April, Oakcrest Boys' Tennis volunteered at the South Jersey Field of Dreams, located in nearby Absecon. Shout out to these Falcons and their coach, business teacher Brandon Wise, for giving their time to help disabled children and adults play and enjoy America's pastime. 🫶🫶🫶

Sending a HUGE shout-out to Oakcrest Seniors Abagale Ranger and Yahsir McNeal, who are each 1 of 5 finalists for Atlantic County's prestigious Old Grad Award! Yahsir is a 4-year member of the OHS Cross Country and Swim teams, and Abagale is a 4-year, 3-season athlete (Field Hockey, Swim, and LAX). OHS, who is so proud of these two accomplished members of Falcon Nation, was one of only two schools to have both a male AND female nominee! 👏💙👏💙

Shout-out to the Oakcrest Dance Program (and OHS Dance teacher extraordinaire Rachel Gaskill) for throwing an AMAZING spring concert last month! The students again brought down the house with their showmanship and talent! 👏👏👏

Oakcrest Boys' LAX has had an exciting season, filled with personal and team successes. ICYMI...

🥍 Senior Connor Flynn recently broke the Nest's career ground ball record, picking up 358 (with many more to come). Connor also broke the single game ground ball record with 20 during the Falcons' game at Hammonton.

🥍 Junior Gavin Csaszar scored his 100th goal during the team's game against sister school Absegami.

🥍 With a 10-4 record, this is the Falcons' best season since 2021. They take on Triton at home on the turf on Friday! Come out and show them some love!

Do you recognize this Oakcrest Class of 2009 graduate? It's OHS guidance counselor, Educational Support Professional of the Year, and soon-to-be guidance supervisor Ashley Perone (née Benton)!

After her departure from the Nest, Ashley attended Stockton University, where she studied Psychology and Digital Literacy. After her graduation from Stockton in 2013, Ms. Perone earned her Masters in Education in School Counseling from Wilmington University in 2016. Ashley, who lives in Hammonton with her husband Dave and 3 children, has been an invaluable member of the counseling staff at OHS...and is sure to do an amazing job when she assumes her new role this summer!

Oakcrest is lucky to have such a dedicated alumna on staff! Shout out to Ms. Perone, who bleeds blue and gray! 💙💙💙

Oakcrest Girls' LAX has had an exciting season, filled with community outreach and personal and team successes. ICYMI...

🦋 On Friday, April 17, Oakcrest and Absegami met on the OHS turf. The intra-district match-up was a Morgan's Message Dedication Game, at which both Falcons and Braves pledged to shine a light on the unseen battles athletes face. The Morgan's Message organization was founded in 2019 after the tragic death of Morgan Rodgers, a Duke University student athlete who struggled with her mental health. Morgan's family and former teammates now work to help eliminate the stigma surrounding mental health. Before the game, the Lady Falcons and Braves promised to check in on their teammates and to reach out when in need of help and support themselves.

🏆 On 4/28, Junior Madison Carland broke the single game scoring record, netting 10 goals! Also, Sophomore Bridget Guerrier has scored her 100th goal!

🥍 With an 11-3 record, this the Falcons' best season since 2014. They take on Middle Township today. A win could mean they're co-champions of their division, so come out to the turf and show them some love!
